If you read the MS License Terms for Office you will NOT find any limit on the number of times you can download and re-install on the same computer (that is what I understand you are doing after hardware problems). They are NOT collected in one place or indexed in any useful way. MS does have a lot of help and training type information articles, but trying to find them is a real challenge. Basically,you have to google to find help from any But they have not bothered to provide fully up to date replacement information there either. MS has essentially abandoned them for the internet. Yes, Office help files are pretty much useless. No you don't have to rent (you don't buy it!) Office 365 to get updates. What we get are goo gahs for idiots who use Office from mobile devises. Office hasn't changed since version 2000. Maybe by the year 4567, Microsoft will make a 64-bit version of WORD and ACCESS. I just spent over $70 Canadian for OFFICE 365 when I shouldn't've had to spend one penny. There is nowhere to turn other than useless dialogues Microsoft has NO ONE to deal with issues that don't follow the standard norm. The so-called ALs are going to screw some users.

Personally I'm fine with OFFICE 2016 Pro as is without the updates, although the installation process forces me to have them. Must I purchase OFFICE 365 to get the updates?
